WM-Quali: Fly, eagle, fly!
Barsinghausen - The battle for number one in the German goal is getting crazier. A week ago, everything seemed to be clear.
Veteran Robert Enke (32) should contest the three World Cup qualification games against Azerbaijan, Russia and Finland and was therefore already some as a definitive number one in the 2010 World Cup.
But since Monday evening, everything is different. Now it is flying, eagle, fly!
Enke has to fit because of his illness (see extra-report), must therefore again René Adler (24 ran). He has put itself through its super-power in the Test against South Africa (2-0) in a brilliant position.
"René has shown a very good match. Therefore, the decision is clear that he will play again, "explained coach Joachim Loew on Tuesday. "René has its good performance for a lot of confidence."
And suddenly the cards in the goalkeeper's hierarchy are mixed from scratch. Suddenly it is indeed a risk, Enke persons without previous international match at the quality Kracher in four weeks in Moscow into the goal.
"Of course, for anyone goalkeeper the opportunity to move with good performance more in focus. René has the chance, then we will look at it, "said Loew.
Does that mean in plain language: If Adler on Wednesday as strong again as on Saturday, then he must also ran in Moscow. Enke would have lost the struggle for German goal in the sick bed.
Adler seems to benefit again from the failure of his rivals can. Almost a year ago, moved to a scaphoid fracture Enke, Adler was the first leg against Russia in the gate and held strong. Then broke the Hanoverian the Bayer keeper again. Now the new exchange.
For Löw even one document, with its decision as to who was his number one for now to wait. "Now we see how fast it goes," said the national coach. "If you can already tell which players are available in eight months."
